What is ELCID?
East Lancashire Creative Industries Development (ELCID) is a support agency that helps creative businesses in East Lancashire grow and prosper. The agency serves as a bridge between new and established creative businesses and the business support that's available in their local area. The support is free or subsidised.
What is a creative business?
For the purpose of the ELCID project, the definition of creative industries is:
"Industries that generate employment and sales opportunities for local creative workers within the preferred sectors of (in no particular order) film/video, music, performing arts, crafts, photography, visual arts, design, fashion, publishing, broadcasting and multimedia/IT."
This definition is intended as a guideline only: no strict boundaries are necessary. The range of scale in this sector is enormous, from a ceramics artist working from home to a graphic design agency employing 50 people.
Who manages ELCID?
ELCID is a joint initiative between CEA (the Consortium of Enterprise Agencies) and the six local authorities of East Lancashire. ELCID is managed by Hyndburn Enterprise Trust, on behalf of CEA.
